The Ethereum Foundation has officially announced a notable addition to its leadership ranks, welcoming prominent ecosystem contributor and security advocate pcaversaccio, widely known as "pc," to the Ethereum Foundation Board. The appointment marks a significant milestone for the organization, bringing a dedicated grassroots developer, security leader, and vocal defender of decentralized ideals into the highest governance layer of the Ethereum Foundation.
In a formal announcement released by the Ethereum Foundation Board, the organization expressed enthusiasm for the new appointment, highlighting pcaversaccio’s extensive history of contributions to the broader Ethereum ecosystem. Known widely across the developer and security communities for his technical expertise and unwavering commitment to core decentralized principles, pcaversaccio steps into the role with an established track record of protecting users, promoting robust security practices, and advocating for user privacy.
Within the ecosystem, pcaversaccio is perhaps best recognized as a co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, a critical emergency response initiative that aids protocols and individuals facing active security threats and exploits. SEAL 911 has grown into an indispensable safety net for the decentralized finance and broader Web3 landscape, offering immediate assistance during critical security crises. In addition to his hands-on incident response work, pcaversaccio has been an active participant in the Ethereum Foundation’s Silviculture Society. This informal advisory body provides guidance to the Foundation aimed squarely at sustaining and protecting the core values that have defined Ethereum since its inception, including censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and uncompromising security.
Beyond his operational and advisory roles, pcaversaccio has significantly shaped the intellectual and ideological discourse surrounding the network through his written works. In 2024, he authored The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto, a modern adaptation of Eric Hughes’s foundational 1993 text, A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto, tailored specifically to the technological and philosophical realities of the Ethereum network. Building upon that ideological framework, he followed up in 2025 with Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty, further articulating the practical and philosophical importance of privacy-preserving technologies in maintaining individual freedom within decentralized systems. Through these foundational writings, alongside his continuous technical contributions and passionate community advocacy, he has consistently worked to advance security practices and ideological clarity across the entire ecosystem.
With this new appointment, the current composition of the Ethereum Foundation Board reflects a balance of foundational leadership, administrative continuity, and deep ecosystem representation. The board now consists of Aya Miyaguchi serving as President, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger, and newly appointed board member pcaversaccio.
The inclusion of pcaversaccio comes at a time of renewed focus on organizational transparency and alignment with foundational ethos. As outlined earlier this year in the official Ethereum Foundation Mandate, the primary responsibilities of the EF board are distinct yet vital to the organization’s health. The board is tasked with setting the overarching vision for the Foundation and ensuring that the high-level strategies and executive decisions made by management remain closely aligned with the organization’s core values. Furthermore, the board functions essentially as a security council, acting to protect the heart and soul of the Ethereum Foundation while simultaneously ensuring strict adherence to compliance standards as a registered Swiss foundation.
According to the announcement, pcaversaccio is joining the Board for an initial one-year term operating on a voluntary basis. The existing board members and the broader Foundation leadership have stated that they look forward to working closely with him to help steward Ethereum’s long-term future, ensuring that the platform remains secure, open, resilient, and true to its cypherpunk origins as it continues to scale globally and support an ever-expanding universe of decentralized applications and users.
