The academic and corporate worlds are taking a major step toward standardizing blockchain analytics as IVEY Publishing releases a groundbreaking MBA case study examining Polygon’s cost-effective user acquisition strategy. The research highlights an impressive Cost Per Wallet (CPW) average of below $1, signaling a fundamental transformation in how web3 marketing is measured. Moving away from traditional, vanity-driven web2 metrics like social media impressions and general engagement, the study sets a new academic benchmark for analyzing blockchain adoption through wallet-level performance tracking.

Developed in close collaboration with web3 marketing intelligence firm Addressable, the study is titled "Polygon Scaling Web3 Growth with Cost Per Wallet Efficiency." By analyzing millions of distinct on-chain events, the research demonstrates how modern attribution models have successfully replaced outdated advertising metrics. Instead of guessing the impact of broad campaigns, Polygon and Addressable utilized advanced technology to identify and target "wallet-ready" users across diverse blockchain verticals, including decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), web3 gaming, and high-profile enterprise partnerships.

The findings provide granular insights into how different sectors within the blockchain ecosystem perform when subjected to rigorous performance marketing standards. According to the data compiled in the study, NFT campaigns yielded the most cost-effective acquisition results by a wide margin. These campaigns successfully onboarded more than 14 million wallets at an exceptionally low cost ranging between $0.20 and $0.50 per wallet.

In contrast, other sectors experienced significantly higher acquisition costs due to the varying nature of user engagement and market dynamics. Web3 gaming initiatives acquired approximately 500,000 wallets, resulting in a CPW of roughly $12. Meanwhile, strategic enterprise partnerships produced a CPW ranging between $5 and $10. Decentralized finance proved to be the most expensive sector for user acquisition, with CPW figures soaring between $50 and $100 per wallet. The study notes that this high cost in DeFi was largely driven by reward-heavy liquidity incentive programs, where user retention rates sharply declined the moment those financial incentives were terminated.

Industry leaders have been quick to praise the publication for bringing much-needed analytical rigor to the sector. Asaf Nadler, Co-Founder of Addressable, emphasized the broader significance of the research for the technology landscape. He noted that the study offers the clearest evidence yet that blockchain growth can be quantified with the exact same level of discipline expected in traditional technology and consumer industries.

Leon Stern, Chief Marketing Officer at Polygon Labs, echoed these sentiments, stating that the findings fully validate the team’s long-held belief that web3 marketing requires entirely new operational models rather than a blind reliance on established web2 tactics. Stern explained that effective and sustainable growth stems from a deep, data-driven understanding of real user behavior directly on the blockchain. He added that CPW is rapidly emerging as the gold standard for measuring this behavior, providing future business leaders with a framework that finally mirrors the operational reality of decentralized ecosystems.

The academic community has also welcomed the case study as a vital tool for business education. Professor Alon highlighted the timing of the release, pointing out that blockchain companies currently face intense scrutiny from both investors and regulators. By introducing transparency and academic credibility, the research addresses central questions regarding what genuine, sustainable blockchain adoption actually looks like. Alon emphasized that the case study equips future executives with a reliable benchmark to evaluate blockchain growth strategies with the same analytical rigor applied to any other established technology sector.

The comprehensive case study is now officially available through IVEY Publishing and is anticipated to be integrated into curricula at business schools around the world, helping shape the next generation of digital asset strategists and corporate leaders.
