Binance has successfully reversed a wave of heavy panic withdrawals, leading the global crypto exchange landscape with $2.3 billion in net inflows over a recent 24-hour period. The dramatic turnaround comes as the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange systematically restores access to customer funds following a staggering $6.3 billion security breach that shook the digital asset ecosystem late last week.

According to data compiled by DefiLlama, Binance outpaced all other centralized exchanges tracked by the platform in terms of 24-hour net inflows. Competitors also saw positive movements during the same window, with Bitfinex recording approximately $280 million and Bitget pulling in around $127 million, though none matched the scale of Binance’s recovery volume.

The platform’s resilience became apparent as user confidence steadily returned. Binance highlighted the positive momentum in a public statement shared on the social media platform X on Tuesday, noting that user activity was heavily skewed toward restoration. "By 03:00 UTC, we are seeing hourly deposits exceed withdrawals, reflecting improving user activity and stabilizing flows," the exchange stated.

This robust influx of capital marks a sharp and rapid reversal from the conditions faced just a day prior. On Monday, Binance experienced massive market jitters, recording more than $7 billion in net outflows over a single 24-hour span as anxious traders rushed to pull their capital off the platform. During that peak period of uncertainty, competitor OKX had briefly captured the leading spot among exchanges, pulling in roughly $445 million in net inflows as users redistributed their digital assets across alternative trading venues.

The turbulence originated late last week when Binance was forced to temporarily suspend all customer withdrawals on Friday following a devastating $6.3 billion hack that struck the platform on Thursday. The emergency pause allowed the exchange’s security teams and forensic investigators to thoroughly examine the breach, assess the total damage, and conduct rigorous system-wide security checks before safely opening the gates again.

Binance initiated the first steps of its recovery plan at 06:00 UTC on Sunday, gradually reopening withdrawal channels. By Monday, the platform expanded these capabilities to include select fiat currencies, a move that coincided with a noticeable deceleration in panic-driven outflows as users realized the platform was methodically working through the crisis.

Behind the scenes, Binance moved aggressively to ensure that customer balances remained entirely whole despite the historic scale of the exploit. In a comprehensive recovery update published on Sunday, the exchange announced that it had successfully replaced approximately 95% of the affected assets out of its own pocket. The remaining 5% of the missing funds consisted of less liquid tokens, which naturally required a more deliberate, phased acquisition process through open market and over-the-counter (OTC) purchases to avoid causing artificial price volatility.

Throughout the incident, Binance leadership maintained that the exchange would completely cover the financial losses utilizing internal company resources and dedicated user protection funds. By absorbing the blow directly, the platform ensured that customer accounts would not bear the burden of the exploit, reinforcing trust during one of the most challenging operational moments in the company’s history.

Meanwhile, the geopolitical and legal fallout surrounding the attack has intensified on the international stage. Over the weekend, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation formally attributed the massive $6.3 billion cyberattack to North Korea, pointing fingers at state-sponsored hacking syndicates known for targeting the cryptocurrency sector to evade international economic sanctions.

The allegations drew a swift and sharp response from Pyongyang. On Tuesday, North Korea officially denied any involvement in the security breach. Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, issued a public dismissal of the FBI’s findings, characterizing the accusations as absurd rhetoric directed against her nation.

As the dust settles, the rapid stabilization of Binance’s liquidity and the successful restoration of withdrawal services suggest that the exchange has weathered the immediate storm of the historic exploit, even as global regulatory and law enforcement agencies continue their investigations into the origins of the attack.
