Aviva Investors, the prominent asset management arm of UK-based insurer Aviva, has officially launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This strategic move marks a major milestone for the institution’s digital asset strategy, bringing a tokenized version of its largest fund—which boasts approximately 22 billion British pounds, or roughly $29.4 billion, in assets under management—onto a public blockchain network.

The development was formally revealed in a joint announcement by Ripple and Aviva Investors, highlighting a deepening collaboration aimed at expanding the footprint of tokenized traditional financial assets on the XRP Ledger. This latest rollout represents Aviva’s second tokenized fund offering to date. It closely follows the firm’s previous expansion in July, when Aviva successfully introduced a tokenized share class of its USD Liquidity Fund to the XRPL network.

With the addition of the Sterling Liquidity Fund’s tokenized share class, Aviva has positioned itself as one of Europe’s leading asset management providers operating in the tokenized money market fund space. According to the announcement, the firm now holds approximately 86 million pounds collectively invested across its two active tokenized share class offerings. Demonstrating strong institutional confidence in the initiative, Aviva seeded the new Sterling Liquidity Fund tokenized share class with a robust 50-million-pound initial investment.

The partnership between Aviva Investors and Ripple is designed to pave the way for additional tokenized financial products to migrate onto the XRP Ledger over time. By leveraging distributed ledger technology, traditional asset managers like Aviva seek to enhance operational efficiency, reduce settlement times, and open up new avenues for institutional participation in money market funds through tokenization.

The XRP Ledger itself continues to gain traction as a viable infrastructure for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. According to data from RWA.xyz, the XRP Ledger currently ranks as the ninth-largest blockchain network for tokenized assets globally. The platform hosts approximately $642 million in total distributed real-world asset value, supported by a growing network of about 2,900 unique holders. As traditional financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain-based rails for fund administration and distribution, integrations involving major asset managers like Aviva highlight the ongoing evolution and mainstream adoption of tokenized financial instruments within institutional finance.
