US-based global asset manager VanEck has officially expanded its suite of investment products with the introduction of a new actively managed exchange-traded fund that bridges the gap between traditional asset classes and digital currencies. The newly launched vehicle, designated as the VanEck Wealth Builder ETF and trading under the ticker symbol NYSE: WBMO, is engineered to combine a diverse foundation of global equities, bonds, and real assets with a targeted allocation to Bitcoin.

According to the firm’s official announcement released on Tuesday, the fund invests comprehensively across both VanEck-branded exchange-traded funds and select third-party offerings. At the core of its modern multi-asset strategy is a fixed baseline target of a 2% Bitcoin allocation, which is permitted to fluctuate dynamically within a strictly controlled tactical range of 1% to 5%. Rather than navigating the technical complexities of direct cryptocurrency custody or purchasing raw coins on digital asset exchanges, the fund achieves its desired Bitcoin exposure cleanly and efficiently by investing directly in a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product.

This fresh vehicle is not an entirely brand-new concept from scratch; rather, it represents a significant evolution and public listing of VanEck’s established Wealth Builder model portfolios. These models were previously accessible primarily to registered financial advisers and institutional clients operating through various third-party wealth management platforms. By transforming this strategy into an accessible ETF structure, the firm is opening up a sophisticated portfolio management approach to a broader audience of market participants. The underlying investment strategy systematically incorporates exposure to global equities to capture growth, fixed income for stability, gold, and a variety of other real assets designed to act as economic hedges, with all individual allocations carefully monitored, managed, and systematically rebalanced by VanEck’s professional asset management teams.

The introduction of the Wealth Builder ETF arrives at a time when traditional portfolio construction theories are increasingly being questioned by institutional investment strategists and retail investors alike. For decades, the foundational standard for balanced investing has relied heavily on the classic 60/40 portfolio model, which typically allocates sixty percent of capital to equities and forty percent to fixed-income securities. However, rapidly shifting macroeconomic environments, persistent inflationary pressures, and changing correlations between traditional asset classes have prompted fund managers to rethink these conventional boundaries.

David Schassler, who serves as VanEck’s head of multi-asset solutions, shed light on the strategic thinking behind the fund’s design during the rollout. He pointed out that the traditional 60/40 portfolio was fundamentally engineered and optimized for a vastly different historical investment landscape than the one global markets face today. According to Schassler, incorporating uncorrelated real assets—alongside modern digital stores of value like Bitcoin—alongside traditional stocks and bonds can meaningfully enhance diversification. This multi-layered approach is intended to help investors navigate a significantly wider and more volatile range of economic conditions, ranging from inflationary shocks to shifting interest rate cycles.

The launch of NYSE: WBMO also highlights VanEck’s broader, long-term corporate initiative to integrate digital assets deeper into mainstream financial planning and traditional retirement structures. This latest market maneuver closely follows a noteworthy strategic partnership that VanEck established in March with Basic Capital, a prominent modern retirement platform. That collaboration successfully made a carefully curated selection of the asset manager’s digital asset exchange-traded products available to everyday American workers through employer-sponsored 401(k) retirement plans, marking another milestone in bringing cryptocurrency exposure into conventional wealth-building channels.

As a major global financial institution, VanEck manages an immense volume of capital on behalf of its diverse clientele. As of September 30, the company’s total assets under management sat at approximately $244.1 billion, placing it in a powerful position to influence how mainstream financial products incorporate emerging technologies and alternative asset classes. By embedding a regulated, spot-based Bitcoin vehicle directly inside a diversified multi-asset wrapper like the Wealth Builder ETF, VanEck continues to bridge the historical divide between traditional Wall Street finance and the rapidly maturing digital asset ecosystem.
