Ripple and Robinhood Partner to Power the Next Generation of Finance

In a landmark development bridging traditional and digital finance, blockchain solutions leader Ripple and global financial services platform Robinhood have announced a sweeping strategic partnership. The collaboration integrates Ripple’s enterprise infrastructure across stablecoins, institutional markets, and corporate treasury management into Robinhood’s expansive retail and institutional ecosystems.

Under the agreement, Ripple’s enterprise-grade stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), will take on a central role within Robinhood’s digital asset offerings. The partnership aims to streamline operations for Robinhood’s vast user base of 28.6 million funded customers globally, while simultaneously expanding institutional capabilities through Bitstamp, the international exchange acquired and operated within Robinhood’s network.

The alliance marks a significant milestone for both companies as they seek to capitalize on a rapidly maturing digital asset market, where stablecoins are increasingly transitioning from niche cryptocurrency trading tools into core pillars of global financial infrastructure.

Bringing RLUSD to Retail and Institutional Ecosystems

The cornerstone of the newly announced partnership is the integration of Ripple USD (RLUSD) across multiple touchpoints in Robinhood’s network. RLUSD is already live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, with broader availability anticipated for retail users within the mainstream Robinhood application later this year.

Beyond retail accessibility, Robinhood will leverage RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to facilitate seamless institutional settlement. This application extends the utility of the stablecoin directly into Bitstamp’s rapidly growing institutional business, providing enterprise-level clients with faster, more efficient settlement mechanics.

Since its initial launch in December 2024, RLUSD has experienced notable market adoption, growing to more than $2.5 billion in total market capitalization. This growth mirrors a broader industry trend that has seen total stablecoin supply across the global digital asset economy surpass $300 billion, driven by rising demand for reliable, dollar-pegged digital assets that can bridge fiat currency with blockchain-based rails.

Modernizing Global Treasury Operations

In addition to customer-facing and institutional trading products, the partnership extends deep into Robinhood’s own internal financial operations. Robinhood has committed to integrating Ripple Treasury to modernize, automate, and optimize its global treasury management functions.

Through this integration, Robinhood will utilize Ripple Treasury technology to handle critical financial operations, including cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments processing, risk management, and intercompany netting. By streamlining these workflows with blockchain-powered infrastructure, Robinhood aims to enhance capital efficiency across its global footprint.

The integration reflects a broader shift among major financial institutions toward automated, real-time treasury systems capable of operating around the clock in tandem with digital asset markets.

Deepening Ties Across Institutional Markets via Ripple Prime

The partnership also reinforces an existing relationship between the two companies within institutional markets through Ripple Prime. By leveraging Ripple Prime, Bitstamp by Robinhood gains access to robust lending and margin financing capabilities spanning approximately 20 digital assets.

In turn, Ripple Prime clients gain expanded access to spot trading liquidity on Bitstamp. Furthermore, the companies confirmed that Ripple Prime will expand its support later in the year to include perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp, providing institutional traders with a more comprehensive suite of derivatives products and risk management tools.

Executives from both organizations emphasized the comprehensive nature of the collaboration and its potential to reshape the broader financial services landscape.

"What makes our partnership with Robinhood so exciting is the breadth of what we’re building together," said Monica Long, President of Ripple. "From bringing RLUSD to retail and institutional markets to helping Robinhood manage its own treasury operations, this partnership reflects growing institutional demand for integrated solutions that support both customer-facing offerings and core financial operations. And that’s exactly where Ripple delivers."

Johann Kerbrat, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto and International, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the practical utility of the alliance.

"Utility is what moves stablecoins forward. Working with Ripple, Bitstamp and Robinhood will have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for our operations, and Ripple Prime for financing," Kerbrat said. "That is what a connected, global financial system looks like."

The announcement arrives as both traditional financial institutions and fintech giants continue to seek scalable, secure infrastructure that can bridge the gap between legacy financial systems and modern blockchain architecture. By combining Ripple’s institutional-grade blockchain solutions with Robinhood’s massive retail reach and growing institutional presence, the partnership positions both companies to play a major role in the ongoing evolution of global finance.
